Neil began work as a cartoonist in London. Then worked for the international management consultancy McKinsey and Company in the area of graphics and visual communications: firstly in London; then in Sweden; and finally in Sydney where, as visual communications specialist he ran workshops for staff and senior clients on a variety of related subjects including using his own video training courses ‘Choosing and Using Charts & Diagrams’, ‘How to Make a Picture Tell a Thousand Words’, ‘Colour for impact’ and ‘Presentation Skills’. During his 16 years with McKinsey Neil played a large part in shaping McKinsey’s worldwide visual communication goals. Neil was a core member of various committees and teams which, amongst other things, re-engineered McKinsey’s written and visual communications, updated styles and standards to better take advantage of technology and co-developed template and library software for the production of charts and diagrams, including ‘The EDGE’. After leaving
McKinsey Neil set up various graphics and visual communication
companies in Australia, including young@art and now og communication
design to work with companies to better define their communication
needs, train their staff in effective message-driven presentations and
add value to their visual communications.
Neil is also a professional actor, award winning short-film maker and comedy scriptwriter for SBS television. He paints, cooks, does yoga, plays backgammon well and surfs poorly. Mette Ystad
YoungMette is orginally from Norway but lives and works permanently in Australia where she has developed a broad background in the field of communications. Mette worked for McKinsey & Company for four years in Oslo and New York where she produced and coordinated PowerPoint presentations and other graphic productions for client service teams. As a graphic specialist Mette gained extensive knowledge of PowerPoint; both in terms of production and in developing custom-made templates. She has taught PowerPoint to new staff, and also coached and mentored senior staff. Mette has a BA in Media and Communications from Goldsmiths College, University of London and after completing a Master in Communication and Public Relations at Bond University in Australia, Mette worked in Norway as a consultant for a well respected communications and public relations company. She worked across various industries doing journalism, PR activities, project management, preparation of communication strategies and crisis and emergency communication.
Mette is fluent in both Norwegian and English (written and spoken) and has experience in desktop publishing and photography. She enjoys swimming, yoga and the beautiful beaches and climate near her home in Northern NSW.
